Hair loss in men seems more common than hair loss in women. The different causes of hair loss in men may have some similarities in hair loss that occurs to women but there are also cases which are specific for men only. The causes of hair loss in men are quite common and some are easily remedied, others may be permanent. While some causes of hair loss in men are inevitable others can be prevented with early detection. The following are common causes of hair loss which usually occur to men,
although there may also be some similarities with women.
Hormones And Genes
These two causes of hair loss in men are both very valid and quite common in men. While not all people are aware of the exact roles that these two factors play as the primary causes of hair loss in men, there have been many assumptions and theories regarding these.
Hormones play a big role as causes of hair loss in men because these affect the state of hair follicle sin men. Men and women have vastly different hormones. DHT is a hormone that is commonly and vastly found in men as it is produced in vast quantities in men compared to women. The hormone DHT is prone to engulfing hair follicles when produced in quantities which are more than the male body can handle. This cause of hair loss in men is due to the DHT hormone affecting the hair follicles by wrapping around it and causing it to shrink. The shrinkage will result to the follicles not functioning or not functioning normally.
Genes can be the causes of hair loss in men due to the recessive gene being passed on to one generation to another. There have been theories that assert that hair loss is commonly passed down from the maternal side of the family to the generations to come but this theory is still under study. As causes of hair loss in men and women, genes are an inescapable truth.
Age
Age is one of the causes of hair loss in men which is also inescapable and inevitable. While genetic predisposition and also hormonal build up on the follicles can actually alter the function of the hair follicles, age also can also do this without the predisposition of genes and hormones. All living things age, and with ageing comes the malfunction of body systems and the death of cells. Hair follicles eventually shrink with age and it is this shrinkage that actually reduces the normal production of hair.
